Konstantin Lifschitz was born in Kharkov, today´s Ukraine, in 1976. While still a
student, he left for Moscow. As a pianist, he took a keen interest from the very
start in early music, most notably Rameau, French composers of the Baroque era,
and of course, Johann Sebastian Bach.
He pursued his studies at London´s Royal Academy of Music, where he
substantially expanded his repertoire, although he has kept regularly returning to
Bach.
His recordings, by now amounting to several dozen titles, have been invariably praised by critics, and his 1994 album with The Goldberg Variations earned him a Grammy nomination.
In the recent time is Mr. Lifschitz more and more requested as conductor. He conducts orchestras such as the Moscow Virtuosi, Lux Aeterna, Musica Viva, Arpeggione.
Since 2008 he has his own class at the Hochschule Musik in Lucerne. He gives masterclasses around the world and takes part in different educational programmes.
