For this occasion our festival will leave the traditional Gothic venue of St Barbara´s, moving instead to an environment rather more suited for a friendly get-together. There, this informal interactive production filled with excitement and improvisation brings forth a collage made up of beat poetry and Czech popular songs. Individual slots in the programme are allotted for, alternately, public reading, chatting and singing, choosing from a repertoire of songs by the songwriting tandems of Voskovec and Werich, Suchý and Šlitr, or Horáček and Hapka. Songs embued with the spirit of the beat generation will mingle with verse by Václav Hrabě, Lawrence Ferlinghetti or Charles Bukowski. “Here is a production which premiered  in Portland, Oregon, followed by a first repeat in a psychiatric clinic in Opava, whereafter the third performance took place at the Czech embassy in Copenhagen, the fourth one on the banks of the Nile in Cairo…, and wherever it has gone so far, it has been received with genuine empathy”, promise its protagonists.
