Dear Friends,
I am very pleased to be able to invite you to a series of fine concert
productions making up the 3rd edition od the Kutná Hora International Music
Festival. The Kutná Hora Festival has been acclaimed as an exquisite music event
noted for its inventive dramaturgy. I trust that the coming third edition of the
festival will not disappoint your expectations, and that you will keep its
concerts in your minds and hearts as a truly unforgettable experience As in the
previous years, the coming festival will again become a creative workshop in its
own right, bringing together distinctive artists from around the globe. The
festival is once again being held under the patronage of Mrs Livia Klausová.

Dear Friends,
The Kutná Hora Festival has made true my old dream of bringing together a
tight-knit group of brilliant and keen musicians to play a programme comprised of
works that are more or less well established on the concert platforms, and which
both we musicians and audiences find thoroughly enjoyable. No stars there, no
snobbery, not just another set of package-tour targeted fancy-dress concerts: in
short, the joy of music-making with no frills. I wonder if I´ve fulfilled this
ambition to the last dot here – but then, it would seem that the capacity crowds
we witnessed during the first two editions at least tell something about the
degree of the public´s interest and curiosity.
This year´s Festival, already the third, will once again bring to Kutná Hora an
array of major young talent active on the international music scene, most of them
musicians with whom I played at Kutná Hora before, and most of them my friends.
The dramaturgy of the series is modelled on the Festival´s previous editions. The
concerts are mostly one hour long, without an intermission (my own experience as a
concertgoer telling me that there are times when I´d rather leave after the pause,
an option I wish to make available to our audience without anyone feeling bad
about it). Virtually each of the concert programmes couples works by two composers
whose fates, styles, or those specific pieces I believe to be ideally suited for
such a confrontation.
I do hope there is something for everyone´s taste on this year´s Festival
programme – even though, if I were you, I wouldn´t want to miss a single concert.
Therefore, why not just take a week off for a holiday at Kutná Hora. The town is
well worth it, and so of course is the music!
